"I am exulted about the simplicity of the new system and the usability in different climate regions. We made four classes of thermal performance for smartshell solid timber and so we could create a tailor-made solution for skilled craftsmen in different clamate zones."
 

Dr. Ing. Benjamin Krick reports about smartshell solid timber like this (paraphrase of German content below):

"Based on a space creating and load bearing material for wall, roof and ceiling, that is even airtight, the construction gets very simple and less error-prone. The simple connection of the exterior layer in different thicknesses of insulation opens the way to this thermal bridge free construction. Having very similar details in wall and roof the new system follows an intuitive clear principle. The window frame is at the same time part of the wall, this opens further potential for savings of costs and energy."

"Weil durchgängig bei Wand, Dach und Decken auf ein statisch tragendes und raumbildendes Material gesetzt wird, dass auch noch die Luftdichtheit mit liefert, wird die Konstruktion sehr einfach und ist wenig fehleranfällig. Die Idee der simplen Verbindung zur Außenschale und die variable Dämmstärke ermöglicht die Herstellung einer wärmebrückenfreien Konstruktion. Auch hier sind die Details von Wand- und Dach sehr ähnlich und folgen dem gleichen einfachen und intuitiv verstehbarem Prinzip. Der Anschluss der Fenster, deren Rahmen gleichzeitig Teil der Wandkonstruktion ist, ermöglicht weitere Einsparungen sowohl bei den Kosten, als auch beim Energiebedarf."
