With the new certification category 'Renovation System', the Passive House Institute provides an important impetus for the building transition.

Following its first wooden window in 1999, the first front door in 2002, the first sliding door in 2004, and the first window for cold climates in 2014, Pro Passivhausfenster GmbH has now reached another milestone: the initial component certification in the brand-new “Renovation System” category issued by the Passive House Institute.

How did this come about?

“We’ve been working closely with the physicists at the Passive House Institute for years, and our passion lies in addressing the current challenges of energy-efficient construction,” says Managing Director Franz Freundorfer.
“We're not necessarily smarter than other pioneers in the Passive House sector—but we’re always in tune with key developments, especially when it comes to innovations in energy-efficient components for windows and building envelopes. Perhaps we are ahead of others in product development—but that’s thanks to our network and the dedication of every one of our partners.”

Our sincere thanks go to the Passive House Institute and, in the case of smartshell reno, to Edward Lowes from the component certification team.

smartshell reno immediately achieved the highest classification: Class F. This level not only includes the building envelope, but also photovoltaic systems, heating, cooling, and domestic hot water supply.
